Review Of Bubba News

Bubba News Review

If you ever played the FPS titled “Redneck Rampage , the first thing that will drop right into your eyes while visiting Bubba’s News website will be the image of one of the game’s character named Bubba. Besides that, you will find many redneck jokes. For example, they say that you can buy the access to their news server and still have enough money to buy them “a six pack and a box of 3 inch magnums”. In other words, they are trying to say that their service is rather cheap. You will also find the news client directory where you can find some good information about popular news clients.

Packages and pricing

Besides the free account (where you are only obliged to pay the $3.95 setup fee), there are six packages available: the 2, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25GB packages (traffic per month) cost $4.95, $6.95, $9.95, $12.95, $15.95 and $19.90 per month respectively.

Server

Their server is available on news.bubbanews.com, more specifically; there is only one server farm available and it is located in the USA.

Lack of information

Although you can find many funny jokes on the website, we can hardly find amusing the lack of any information about their service. For example, there is no information about binary and text retention, completion rate, number of newsgroups and the number of simultaneous connections. Finally, you will not find the information about privacy and the availability of SSL encryption.

Recommendation

Although their website is something worth to look at, this non-serious approach is unfortunately their biggest defect because you might get the impression that, while trying to amuse the visitor, they are “trying” to hide all the crucial information the usenet user wants to know and all of that for no particular reason. Finally, the pricing is not something extraordinary.
