Merlins Portal Review: Is Merlins Portal Really a Magic NZB Indexer

Merlin’s portal is unfortunately closed now as of April 2012.

Merlins Portal was a highly popular indexing site for a long time, since 2004. But in Mid-September of this year they relaunched a completely revamped website. They have indexed well over 200,000 NZB files, and are continuing to grow. Merlin has great retention, 1178 days, and the forum software vBulletin runs the site. As always the site is a fee indexing site and even if you were a client before the site went down you will have to re-register.

Merlins Portal Top Features And Highlights

  • 1,178 days retention on binary files.
  • More than 200,000 NZB’s indexed and growinig that list.
  • 18 NZB categories.
  • Over 100,000 members to communicate with.
  • Totally free, though they do have a premium access account, and do accept donations.

We mentioned that Merlins Portal is free, but they do have a paid access account that costs $1.50 per month, $5.00 for 6 months, $10 for 12 months, and a $15.00 payment will get you a lifetime membership. (99 years.) With a paid subscription you will get access to the following: FULL NZB Index, Unlock More info, 1 click download from inside forums, saved Filters, Filtering, NZB Basket, daily http download links, Torrent links daily, Cracks & Keygen Area, and their Site Email Mask.

Merlins Portal Summary

We went and checked the site out and found it to be well organized, and full of NZB’s ready to go. While the selection of only 200,000 files is a little short compared to other indexing sites, their list is growing fast…as is their membership. Due to the fact that this is a free service, it may be a little slower on the weekends, but this is only to be expected. Their user and NZB bases may be a little shorter than they were before the revamp, but we are betting this won’t last long, in just a couple of months they already have lots of people signing up.
