Review Of Newsville
Founded in the 1995, the Newsville usenet newsgroup provider is providing the access to more than 50.000 groups. These groups can be accessed either through the NNTP software or by using their web-based newsreader software that is available through the web browser. They have thousands of customers, including individuals, companies, but other service providers as well. Unfortunately, it appears that they hadn’t updated the website since 2007 so there is a chance that some of the information available on the website is outdated.
Servers
They operate a wholly owned datacenter in Knoxville, TN – USA, where all the servers are located. As of the year of 2007, they had 2TB of storage, increasing 10% each month.
Retention and completion
The binary groups have more than 20 and the text groups have more than 90 days of retention. The completion rate is unknown.
Pricing
All the packages they offer have unlimited traffic. The user can choose between monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual subscription. The prices for each of these are $11.95, $33.95, $65.95 and $118.95 respectively. The options we have just mentioned are for personal users. The subscription is also available for companies and the pricing is calculated later according to the needs of each particular company.
Recommendation
We don’t like the fact that they did not touch their website for the last three years. Nevertheless, although the retention times are so low that they are almost nonexistent, the pricing is rather decent.
