One of the biggest Usenet providers we have, Newshosting announced today the release of their latest client version 1.1.0. We’ve been (im)patiently tapping our foot waiting for this release for more than one reason, but the biggest one must have been that we wanted to check out their new SafeSearch feature that has been added in.

As one of the biggest providers we list on our website, Newshosting offers their potential customers a 14 day free trial where they can check out their services, and this new client. For only $9.99 per month a person can have unlimited access to Usenet through their servers, and they will discount that price further if you pay by the year to $99.99.

We have heard many good things about Newshosting and their client, but we are betting that with the roll out of this new version that we standto hear even more than we already have. For those that don’t know, here are a few of the old, and new (*) features:

  • SafeSearch – this promises to make them a big seller. You can enable or disable adult content to be displayed in you search results, groups, and images.
  • Dates and Groups sub-folders will be created in the downloads folder. This feature is completely configurable.
  • Minimize to tray now works.
  • Completely pre-configured client. From the set up everything is ready to go.
  • One of the fastest Usenet file searches around.
  • Automatic thumbnails and file previews.
  • Sort groups according to file types.
  • Binary and text files are supported.
  • Posting to groups from inside the client is allowed.
  • Automatically unpack your RAR and PAR’s.
