During the last year and a half Giganews customers have benefited massively from the partnership between Giganews and Golden Frog. There have been many updates, add-ons, and improvements that have made the Giganews experience much better, and they aren’t going to stop there…or with this big bonus, the VyprVPN App for Giganews.

The Details Of The VyprVPN Application

The Giganews VyprVPN application will configure your connections automatically. After the client is installed you will be asked for your logon information, and from there you are flying. Here’s a few of the other basic features that the app has:

  • The app is accessed quickly and easily from the Windows notification area on your desktop.
  • Changing server locations is easily done through a one click interface.
  • Changing protocols uses the same one click method.
  • So far only the Windows versions has been released, but Mac and Linux versions are on the way.

The Windows versions supported are Win XP, Vista, and Win 7. Sorry Mac and Linux fiends, but it won’t take the guys too much longer for your apps. If you are a more advanced user, then you could benefit from the more advanced features of the VyprVPN application. Here are a few of these:

  • Activation is automatic when connecting to an unsecured network. This can be configured by the user.
  • Dropping of a secured connection is automatically detected, and the user will be prompted for a reconnect. This is also customizable to your liking.
  • Server locations, and protocols that you have used recently will be remembered, and quickly accessible.
  • L2TP, and OpenVPN security certificates will be maintained automatically.

The application is a free one for the Giganews members that already have a VyprVPN subscription, and the download is a measly 17 MB, so getting it will only take a few seconds for most. Auto-configuration is nice for those of us that aren’t quite as savvy to the technical aspects of Usenet access.
